Esther Eason Nunn

Esther Eason Nunn, 91, went to be with the Lord on July 15, 2010. She was born on May 25, 1919 in Portsmouth, VA the daughter of the late W. Frank Eason and Esther Cutler Rutter Eason. Esther started working with Seaboard Railroad in Portsmouth as a young woman; moving with the company to Richmond and then Jacksonville, FL where she retired with 40 years of service. Her love was her dogs, throughout Esther’s life she always had her faithful dogs to keep her company. She was also an avid baseball fan and enjoyed watching the Portsmouth Cubs in her youth. Esther also enjoyed watching all of the good Classic Movies. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and her family will miss her deeply. Esther was preceded in death by a grandson, Stephen Allen.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Edna N. Wigginton and husband Nat of Virginia Beach; granddaughters, Lisa Wigginton Alejo and Laura Wigginton, both of Virginia Beach; step-granddaughter, Michelle Rivers of Georgia; great grandchild, Leina Alejo and step-great grandchildren, Logan and Alex Rivers.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, 4889 Princess Anne Road in Virginia Beach. The family will receive friends at 10:00 AM in the funeral home for a visitation prior to the services. Burial will be at 12:30 PM in Olive Branch Cemetery in Portsmouth. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Virginia Beach SPCA, 3040 Holland Road, 23453.
