Garrett A. King

June 18, 2010November 15, 2012

Garrett Asher King, 2 years old, returned to the arms of Jesus Christ on November 15, 2012. Born on June 18, 2010 in Norfolk, Virginia, Garrett was a friendly little boy with a tender heart and a huge smile for everyone. He was brave beyond his years and loved to share race cars and football with daddy and giving mommy big hugs and kisses. Garrett loved and admired his big brother and was eagerly awaiting the arrival of his baby sister. In his short life he was a blessing to so many people and will be deeply missed by all.

Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Jonathan R and Emily H. King ; brother, Christopher Pendergrass; paternal grandparents, Jonathan and Sherrie King; maternal grandparents, Glenn and Janet Hottel; paternal great-grandmother, Rosemarie King; maternal great-grandmother, Frances Howland and numerous other loving family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Monday, November 19, 2012 from 6 – 8:00 PM in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, 4889 Princess Anne Road in Virginia Beach. A celebration of Garrett’s life will be held on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made to CHKD in Garretts name.

Emily and Jonathan, there are no words I can say to ease the pain in your hearts with the passing of your dear son Garrett. He is truly with the Lord now and he will forever watch over you from Heaven. I lost a baby son, 35 years ago, and as you may find out, the acute pain does eventually subside but not the feelings of loss and helplessless and anger. Please try to keep talking to each other and to your families. Don't close off Garrett as though he'd never been there. Acknowledge your love for him and share that love with everyone you meet. You can become a treasure to others who will soon walk the same dark path. You will be in my prayers.

we love you and prayers are never enough. I am sorry that time has passed us by and I could not have been there to be a better shoulder for you. My little girl will take care of him and show him the ropes in heaven and some day we will see them again . I love you both. Jennifer (& Jason Simmons) Kepler

Words are never easy at a time such as this. We are your neighbors a few doors down and always remarked at how cute Garrett is when we saw him playing with the other children outdoors. As parents and grandparents , we can appreiciate the love of family ..and the love you have for your little one. Our most sincere condolences to you and your families .
A donation will be sent to CHKD in loving memory of little Garrett.
With sincere sympathy,
