Gregory Watson Saine, 55, passed away on May 6, 2019. He was a life loving and caring guy who loved to hang out with his family and his friends. He graduated from Bayside High School in Virginia Beach, VA, and attended Old Dominion University. He enjoyed talking about current events, watching sports, playing "the train game," and always had his laptop and phone nearby. Greg loved driving down to Nags Head and spending time working on his beach house or just relaxing. He was involved in Lifepoint Church in Fredericksburg, VA, and enjoyed being around his church family. Greg was an avid ODU fan and always attended their football and basketball games. He was especially looking forward to the new football stadium that is being built. In addition, Greg was a business owner and always worked hard to do right by his partners, his employees and his customers. Left to cherish his memory is his mother, Ann P. Saine of Virginia Beach; brother Douglas P. Saine (Deborah) of Leesburg, VA; sister Sandra L. Rice (Richard) of Virginia Beach; nephews and niece, Benjamin D. Saine, Zaccary J. Saine and Noelle D. Saine. Greg was predeceased by his father, James Watson Saine. The family will receive family and friends from 2-3:00 PM on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel with a funeral service beginning at 3:00 PM. I remember Greg well as we had home room together and a few other classes. He was always sweet funny and smart. We had a lot of fun playing paper football I don’t think I’ve ever forgotten his beautiful red hair or his smile I should say laughter. See you in a wink

Sich a great guy! I grew up with the Saine family one street over. Went to school from kindergarten thru college.
Vacation bible school every year until we were 12 or so. Tree fort, snowball fights....
You will be sorely missed! I'll see you in heaven, buddy!

I met Greg when he was hired by franchisee Tidewater Rental (RAC) about 31 years ago in Richmond, VA. One of my favorite memories was all of us going to Margarita Maggie’s & dancing after long hours we all worked (I waited tables & wud meet up with the RAC crew after). My husband wasn’t a dancer, but Greg was always game & became my dance partner at times. I know, lol. He became an even closer friend later, weekends at the beach, football, etc. He even held my 30th bday surprise party at his home & later helped me through a really rough patch in life. Such a sweet kind soul. We all stayed in touch over the years, visiting his restraurant in San Diego., etc. Then, to my surprise, we lured him back to the East and we became business partners in 2005, opening Colortyme in Fredericksburg. I always knew he was a good business operator, but this is when I realized how good! I’m grateful to have known him and will do all I can to take care of the business and take it to the next level, it’s what he’d want. I know he loved his employees, friends & family and moved back here be cause he missed his Mom & family very much. RIP my friend, ride those waves in Heaven like only you can. All my Love, Tanya

You have always been the best of friends and the world will not be the same without you in it. You and I are the same in that, we don't spend time in the past. We live for tomorrow. And though you don't live on this Earth anymore, I know where you are. And I will see you again some day in Heaven. As usual you are leading the way. I will miss you my friend.

Greg was a great childhood neighbor. He treated the younger kids kindly, including us in backyard football games and cooking pizza for the gang. I enjoyed catching up with him years later at his fine restaurant in San Diego, and we shared good memories from Point O’View. Our prayers are with Sandy, Doug and Mrs. Saine, and all the family.

I knew Greg for many years while he was a ColorTyme/Rent-A-Center franchisee. He was one of the nicest guys I ever met. We had many conversations about legal matters over the years. He always appreciated the difference between the need to be a tough businessman and a compassionate one.
My primary take-away memory of Greg is his love and devotion to his Mother Ann. Whenever I talked to Greg I inevitably asked about his next train trip with Ann, another wonderful person who was a favorite of my wife's.
I will surely miss him.

Greg was a successful entrepreneur franchisee with our company for years. He served the customers in the communities in which he operated honorably. We are saddened by his passing and wish his family peace during this challenging time.

There are simply no words to express the loss of such a lovely person at such a young age. Greg and I didn't see each other that often, but I have great memories of playing together as kids, whether it was at a beach cottage or a Pruden family reunion. I am so happy I had a chance to see him and catch up with each other at last year's reunion where we joked that in the coming years, it would be our jobs to drive our respective parents to those events. He was a funny, easygoing, caring guy with a great smile and outlook on life. We will all miss him so much. My heart goes out to my Aunt Ann, Doug, Sandy and their families. I'm so very sorry. Wishing you peace and healing and God's great love during this unimaginable time. All my love, Terri
