Helen Ayers West

Norfolk – Helen Ayers West, 91, passed away July 30, 2013. She was born in Norfolk on April 9, 1922 to the late Samuel and Ethel Ayers. Helen worked as a telephone operator at the Norfolk Naval Base. She enjoyed shopping and was a truly giving person. Helen adored and cherished her three grandchildren. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Michael West and his wife Kathy and Samuel West; three grandchildren, Shana Bearden, Alan West, and Mariner West. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Lee West. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, Aug. 2, 2013 at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel.
