Born in Tarboro, North Carolina, Larry grew up in Hampton, VA. He enlisted in the Army in 1969 where he served several years in Korea after which he was honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant so that he could attend Chowan College. There, Larry earned his degree in Accounting and went on to become a CPA. To let loose he loved hunting with friends, enjoying weeks at the beach with his fraternity brothers, and spending quality time with his family. Larry was also passionately involved in the Khedive Chapter of Shriners International, specifically the Provost Guard, where he served as Secretary/Treasurer and past-Captain.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents Raymond Hale and Marjorie Register, and his sister, Sandra Todd. Larry aka Bro and Uncle Pappy, leaves behind his sister Shelby Bullock (Jimmy Jr.), brother-in-law, Bill Todd, his niece Carrie Soden (Jeff), nephew Jacob Padgett (Tammy), and several cousins, nieces, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, other assorted family, and many caring friends.
A visitation with friends and family will be held on April 6, 2023 from 6-8 p.m. at Smith and Williams Funeral Home, 4889 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach with a Masonic service at 6:30 p.m.. A graveside service will be held on April 7, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milners Rd, Suffolk VA 23434, with Pastor Scott Foxwell officiating.
