Virginia Beach – Mary Huber, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother slipped peacefully into the arms of Jesus March 31, 2011. She had been quite ill for a long time and at times suffered greatly over the past ten years. She showed incredible strength and fortitude after each illness in getting well and staying well to prolong her life with her loving family; but the Lord was ready to call her home.
She was the beloved daughter of William and Barbara Harbison and was one of five children, all predeceased by her, except for her sister, Barbara Henry of PA. She is also predeceased by her eldest daughter, Deborah Gilbert, and a grandson, Jacob Huber.
She is survived by her loving wonderful husband, James Huber, Sr.; her children, Patrice Helms of NC, Eric Christensen of PA, James Christensen of NC, Julia Townsend of Virginia Beach and twins, James Huber, Jr. and Maggie Brochu of Virginia Beach. She was a proud and loving grandmother to 18 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many friends and acquaintances.
The family would like to convey all of our love and gratitude to one of the most wonderful people and friends that Mary had the privilege of knowing and that is Sherry Selley. We love you! Mary’s life was simply about love, about selflessness and generosity and compassion to others and this is what defined her. Though all of us here that are grieving and missing her presence, we know that she is finally home with Christ and is finally at peace. May God rest her soul.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at Church of the Ascension Catholic Church, 4853 Princess Anne Rd in Virginia Beach. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Monday at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel. You may offer condolences to the family at www.smithandwilliamskempsville.com.
