Mary Frances Henson

CHESAPEAKE- Mary Frances Henson, 87, passed away on October 19, 2011. She was born on August 27, 1924 in Norfolk, VA to the late Francis B. Thomas and Mary G. Smith Thomas Aldag. Mrs. Henson was preceded in death by her husband, William “Nat” Henson, son, Andrew Nathan Henson, and daughter, Mary Arthur Henson O’Sullivan She was a graduate of Maury High School, and a lifelong resident of Virginia Beach. Mary Frances was a very talented painter and loved reading, history, gardening, crafts, animals and loved to cook. She was an avid golfer and played with several golf associations which included Kempsville, Stumpy Lake and Red Wing. She was also a member of the Sarah Constant Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Survivors include a daughter, JoAnn Mendler and husband, Jack of Chesapeake, VA; three grandchildren, Caitlyn Mendler of Northern, VA; Taylor Mendler of Chesapeake, VA; and Mary Michael O’Sullivan of Atlanta, GA. A celebration of Mrs. Henson’s life will be held on, Friday October 21, 2011 at 2:00pm at Smith &Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel.
