Michael was born on July 14, 1962, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, to Charles Lenard Chapman, and his wife, Jeannine (Macomber) Chapman. They moved to Virginia Beach when he was about three. He grew up in the Episcopal Church. He was in the first graduating class from the newly opened Green Run High School and attended Virginia Tech. for a couple of years before joining the Navy.
He loved playing baseball and basketball, but in his heart, he was a weatherman! He loved tracking weather patterns and competing with the professionals at predicting the weather. His family always knew what was coming!
During his 20 years in the Navy, he was “born again”, met his wife, and had two boys. He won two Achievement Medals related to his ingenuity with the programs he worked on, and for skill in teaching others to use them. He also finished earning his Associate of Science degree.
As his relationship with Jesus grew, he collected a local language Bible in every port where he could find one. One of these, he eventually gave to a missionary leaving for a country hostile to Christianity.
After he retired, he went to work for T-Solutions, the company that administers the Navy program he worked with. He stayed with them for 22 years.
He is survived by his wife, Victoria (Kujawski), his sons, Timothy and Josiah, his mother, Jeannine Hunter, and his brothers, Scott and Eric. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Suburban Christian Church, 5132 Bellamy Manor Dr., Virginia Beach, Virginia 23464, on August 4, 2026, at 2:30 pm with Military Honors.
