Milford A Dunbar-Watkins

Milford Armstrong Dunbar, 88, went to be with the Lord on July 12, 2012. She was born on December 14, 1923 in Fairfield, North Carolina the daughter of the late Dewey E. and Annie S. Armstrong. She was an active lady who loved gardening, quilting and cooking, but most of all her family. Milford was a long time member of Suburban Christian Church in Virginia Beach and had been employed by the City of Virginia Beach as a cook for the Pendleton Child Development Center. She was preceded in death by her husbands, John R. Dunbar and John R. Watkins, son, Coley K. Dunbar, daughter, Marlene Nelson, sisters, Georgie, Thelma, Myrtle, and brother, Henry.

Left to cherish her memory are her three sons, Mitchell (Linda), Delton and Jay D. (Rita) Dunbar; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 5 great great-grandchildren; brother, Dennis Armstrong (Georgine); sister, Margie Midgett- Rose.

A visitation will be held tonight, Saturday, July 14, 2012 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, 4889 Princess Anne Road in Virginia Beach. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 15, 2012 at 3:00 p.m.in Suburban Christian Church, 5132 Bellamy Manor Drive in Virginia Beach. Burial will be private. Memorial donations may be made to the Union Mission, 5100 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk, VA or the a charity of your choice in Milford’s name.
