Tomorrow would have been Nancy's  birthday.  
I was "The Other Nancy"  or "TON" when Nancy and I would sign off our emails to  each other. 
We met in the 90's at The Whitman Group, and when they closed their doors in 1999, Nancy and I remained friends through those difficult times after both of us were without a job.   At that time, Nancy was recovering from foot surgery and was bed-ridden while she healed, which was doubly difficult.   I left Philly in 2004, but we stayed in touch, mostly by phone, almost always remembering each other's birthdays.   We even played "Words with Friends" long distance during a period when Nancy was limited in her activity.  I'm so glad she and Phil were able to move near Abbe to Virginia Beach and be near family and her beautiful grandchildren.   We stayed in touch all those years and I will forever miss our "catch up" calls, her warmth and friendship.

Nancy and I go back a long way. She was a classmate with my sister at Springfield High, Class of 1965.  Her family was at the bottom of Sherman Road, the Blewitt family at the top. Then a number of years later, she marries a fraternity brother and friend of mine!  I still remember how amazed I was at the coincidence.
I'll always be grateful to Nancy and Phil for keeping in touch and inviting me to their home. And for allowing me to  witness  the growth of their two lovely daughters. They are a credit to her.
I'll miss her, and will always think of her with the greatest affection. 

Nancy- you and I spent many years together in our "Younger days". We shared many things including our birthday.  We went to Chester County and University of Pa. together, lived together, travelled together, even met Phil together and then we went our separate ways.  I am so glad we had a chance to meet again in 2015 if only for a few hours.
You were gentle but strong and loved by everyone.
We have lived different lives in different countries but I will always remember you as one of my dearest friends.


My prayers go out to your Family.   They must miss you more than Words can Express.

Nancy, I have known you since Abbe was a Tiny Tumbler ❤️! You were always an inspiration to me. You were caring, light hearted, loving; a wonderful mother, wife and friend. You had a twinkle in your eye I’ll always remember. You laughed and cried with us, always listening and concerned. Such a good friend, I’ll always miss you. Thank you for being part of my life.

     I had the pleasure of meeting Nancy in 2004.  I had just accepted a position at Rydal Park as a Nurse Manager.  She was the Staff Development Educator.  She and I worked together closely to meet the needs of the staff.  Nancy was a great Educator and soon became a great friend to me.  I had recently moved here from Fl and didn’t have a good friend here...that quickly changed.  Nancy and I developed a friendship that would last for many years.  
     After we both left Rydal Park we ended up working for the same company, but in different buildings.  We held the same positions, so had many opportunities to help each other and work on projects together.  She was always so eager to help me and was always a mentor to me.  
     When we both had to retire from working...we stayed in touch via FB and texting, phone calls, and occasional visits.  I was always so happy to be in contact with her.  We would often talk about how blessed we were to have wonderful husbands and daughters that truly loved us.  We were both thankful that God had blessed us with each other.  
    I will miss being able to have contact with her.  She will always be in my heart and I will always be thankful for the comforting memories I have of my dear sweet friend, Nancy.  
    Thanks Nancy for everything.  I love you and will see you again one day.  I’m so glad that you became my BFF.  ❤️🌞

After watching Nancy's tribute movie, it's obvious that she had a loving husband and daughters with a life containing countless wonderful memories and travels. My family and I had the pleasure to spend time with her in Nags Head, NC last summer (2017). Having those moments with Nancy confirmed that she was a topnotch person whom I wish I had had the opportunity to spend more time with over the years. There is no doubt that there is now a hole in this world since she departed us. We miss her and send an outpouring of love to you all. Love, Julie, Dan Janet and Gloria Abramson.

Nancy was one of my favorite family members. We connected right away, through our nursing careers. She was always caring, and interested in what I had to say. She was a terrific Grandmother, Mother and Wife. She was my Aunt for 2 days, only, but I'm proud to have known her for such a long time! I will miss her! My heartfelt love and sincere condolences go out to Philip, Jeanene, and Abbe, as well as the rest of the family. Love you all!



Nance. You were conceived in love and surrounded by love all your life, both giving and receiving it. I believe that you are received in love into the hands of God.

You are my sister and my best friend. You have shared your wisdom and have comforted me and others all your life. 

Now with all my love, be at peace.

That being a Mom, a caregiver, isn’t just for your own kids and doesn’t just happen in the home

That faith and spirituality may look different for different people, even when you believe in the same God

That career doesn't have to be at the expense of family, and family doesn't have to be at the expense of career 

That a patient and compassionate ear is sometimes the most encouraging word you can offer someone 

That, for the stranger on the bus or the train who pours his heart out to you, you can offer him the same loving kindness and words of encouragement that you would your closest friend 

That no matter how beautiful the rest of the world sees you, the self-critical internal monologue is hard to quiet

That laughter really is good medicine, but ice cream works too

That time and distance does not have to diminish friendships

That being fiercely devoted to the well-being of others makes them fiercely devoted to you 

That you can experience joy and gratitude even in the most painful experiences

That a little patience, hope, and kindness with people and situations can carry you and others a long way

To never underestimate the power of stubbornness

That the world may see strength, courage, and confidence in you even when you feel weak and fragile

We have made wonderful memories together and I will carry them with me in my heart. I am forever grateful for your unconditional love and support. You and Dad have made me the woman that I am. I take you with me everywhere I go. I see a piece of you in Reed and Bowe’s blue eyes. And you are always in our hearts and minds, even if you’re not sitting right in front of us. 

I will miss your smile, your warmth and optimism, your honesty, your love for life, love for others, your VOICE, your heartfelt hugs, your giggle, your friendship, your expertise, and your kind spirit. YOU are endlessly BEAUTIFUL to me. So many things I aspire to be. Brave. Vivacious. Conscientious. Intelligent. Thoughtful. Nurturing. Genuine. Authentic. Fun. And you make others feel good! One of your many gifts to this world. You have helped me know exactly what kind of parent and spouse I want to be. You and Dad have modeled love for me and showed me what I deserve in relationships. It has been amazing having you by my side in raising these little boys. I will feel proud of myself if I am even 10% of the mom you have been. I feel so lucky to have had you as my mommy. And even more lucky when people tell me I am your “mini me”. 

THANK YOU for making this life beautiful and for being my soulmate. I will think of you whenever I see “I love you” in sign language, when I’m in the garden, when I’m kissing booboos, eating Reese’s cups, riding a carousel, or see a picture with a finger in it. I will never forget you riding the bike into the bushes, or missing the trash can from one foot away. The trips we took, dancing with you at our wedding, our daily phone calls, the loving eyes you gave to my boys. The hugs and kisses. All of it. I miss it already. But I will “consider myself hugged”


When I met her, Nancy looked like a fairy princess. Through a long courtship, it became apparent to me that I wanted her to be the mother of my children. We had a bond that grew strong very quickly.  We were able to look at one another across a room, and instantly tell what the other was feeling, and often thinking. Nancy and I shared the same values. Whenever the children asked me difficult questions, I always had the correct answer: “Ask your mother”. 

Nancy grew, not only to tolerate, but to love my numerous quirks. We never raised our voices at each other; never found a disagreement that couldn’t be resolved quickly. We automatically looked out for what the other needed, sometimes to our own detriment. I might casually mention something I needed to Nancy, and 2 days later it would be delivered by Amazon Prime. When her morning pains became bad enough 20 years ago, I gave Nancy breakfast in bed every morning. 

Nancy touched people’s lives so effortlessly, because she only had to be herself. She had a genuine interest in other people’s welfare; whether it was helping people in their careers, helping patients to live better lives, being a MomMom, being a loving friend and family member, or raising two amazing and loving daughters. 

June 25, 2018, we learned that Nancy had cancer. We vowed to fight it together. But the oncologist and the surgeon said it was the most aggressive cancer they had ever seen in 20 years of practice. Nancy had a lifetime of advocating for others. In the end, it was natural for me to become her strongest advocate to fight the cancer and give Nancy every chance to survive. Nancy deserved no less. 

After slipping into her last unconsciousness, never to come back, she heard my voice. Nancy whispered, “Hug me”. I did hug her. When I kissed her head, Nancy said, “I love you”. It came so automatically to her. 

I have lost my fairy princess, my wife, my lover, my best friend and my soul mate. My heart and soul will never recover.
