Paul Desper Irving Jr., a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2025, at the age of 83 in Knotts Island, North Carolina. Born on September 23, 1942, in Norfolk, Virginia, Paul lived a life marked by dedication to his family, his work, and his passions.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Sr. and Clara Irving, and his cherished wife of nearly 60 years, Joesey Irving. He leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth, survived by his son, Joseph "Mark" Irving, and Mark's significant other, Lisa Furmon. He is also survived by his brother, Bryan Irving; his sister, Marian Riggs and her husband Lloyd. Paul’s extended family includes his brother in law, Tony Ammons and his wife Jean; his sister in law, Marie Ammons; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and great great nieces and nephews, all of whom will remember him fondly.
Throughout his career, Paul served as a District Sales Manager at Westinghouse Credit, where he was known for his hard work and dedication. Outside of his professional life, Paul found joy in the simple pleasures of duck hunting and fishing, often accompanied by friends and family. These moments brought him immense happiness and allowed him to share his love for the outdoors with those closest to him.
A private family graveside service for Paul will be held Friday, October 10, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Knotts Island Cemetery, 677 Knotts Island Rd, North Carolina, NC 27950.
His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will forever cherish the time spent with him.
