Born in San Carlos City, Pangasinan, Philippines, she was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Teodorico and Estefania Gundayao, her cherished husband, Eduardo G. Agbuya, and her two sons, Enders and Patrick.
Mrs. Agbuya earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Work from Philippine Women’s University in Manila. Her career began as a dedicated social worker at Boys Town Complex in Manila and later at Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa, Metro Manila. After immigrating to the United States, she devoted herself to raising her young family before resuming her career with the City of Norfolk, where she retired after 29 years as a senior social worker.
A founding member of Ascension Catholic Church in Virginia Beach, Mrs. Agbuya was also actively involved with the Pangasinan Association of Virginia and participated in the Fil-Am Bayanihan and Samahong Tagalog.
She enjoyed crafting, dancing, sewing, gardening and traveling with family. She lived each day to the fullest with vibrant energy.
Survivors include her daughters, Pamela Gonzales and husband Ranchie, Pinky McCoy and husband Joseph, and five grandchildren, Jordan, Paran, Trey, Piper, and Patrick, along with several siblings, nieces, and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Monday, August 11, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, 4889 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Ascension Catholic Church, Tuesday, August 12, at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
