He was born in Cleveland, OH to Walter and Margery Wilkes. He retired from the U.S. Navy as a Sr. Chief and later worked as a Traffic Manager for WTKR and WGNT TV stations. He is predeceased by: Parents Walter A. and Margery Wilkes of Hatboro PA, Brother Walter J. Wilkes of Collingswood NJ, Long time partner, Nadia Frazier and His beloved pet, Missy (Cat).
He is survived by: Daughter, Jennifer Barnes (Kris) of Portsmouth VA; Son, Robert A. Wilkes, Jr. (Megan) of Norfolk VA; 4 Beautiful Granddaughters and 1 Grandson; Brother, Richard Wilkes (Debbie) of Franklinville NJ; Sister, Linda Hessler (Robert) of Hatfield PA; several nieces and nephews, and several great-nieces and great-nephews. His beloved pet Kallie (Cat).
He was loving, smart, quiet, and direct but kind.
He had a passion for traveling, collecting different types of collectibles, gardening, birds, Monarch butterflies and his fish tank.
His favorite sports teams were the Philadelphia Eagles (football), Philadelphia Phillies (baseball), Philadelphia Union (soccer), and Nascar (Dale Earnhardt).
He liked watching and listening to 70’s and 80’s sitcoms and music.
He loved his cats Missy and Kallie that he rescued from the pound.
A Celebration of Life will be held 10:00 am, Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Smith & Williams Funeral Home. Interment will be at Whitemarsh Memorial Park in Ambler, Pennsylvania on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 10:00am. Military honors will be accorded at the grave.
