

Ronald Dwight Brinkley, 66, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 15, 2011. He was born in Portsmouth, Virginia on July 4, 1944, to the late Norman Knight Brinkley and Eloise Lilley Holland. He was predeceased by his sister, Janet Louise Glover and Step-father, William E. (Buddy) Holland. He worked for many years as a manager for Fine’s Men Shops and later in the lumber business at Western Branch Building Materials (Lumber City), and was currently employed by Treated Lumber Outlet.
He is survived by his mother, Eloise Lilley Holland; his wife Mary Ellen Etheridge Brinkley; daughter, Kristen Brinkley Kellam, granddaughters Haley and Casey; son, John Kipling Brinkley and his wife, Wendy, grandsons, Kolby and Seth; and son, Steven Baylor Brinkley, granddaughters Samantha and Katie.
Ronney loved surf fishing at Sandbridge, playing the guitar, and Sudoku puzzles. He loved his family and was especially proud of his grandchildren. He lived for his Fourth of July birthday party every year which also served as the annual family reunion.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 18th from 6-8 pm at Smith and Williams Funeral Home, 4889 Princess Anne Rd, Virginia Beach 23462.
Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 19th at Oak Grove Baptist Church, 691 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach 23457. Burial will be at 3:00 pm at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3920 Airline Boulevard, Chesapeake.
Memorial contributions may be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church or Creeds Rescue Squad, 595 Princess Anne Rd., Virginia Beach 23457.
