Born on November 15, 1944, in San Fernando, California, Ruben lived a life filled with love, service, and dedication to his family and country.
At the age of 19, Ruben was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he proudly served from 1965 to 1967 during the Vietnam War campaign. Ruben's greatest joy was his family. He cherished spending time with his brother Reynaldo, and together they created countless memories grilling and celebrating with loved ones. His weekends were devoted to supporting his children at their softball and baseball games. An avid gardener, Ruben found peace in tending to his garden and lawn, while evenings were often spent playing the guitar and singing, sharing his passion for music with his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his Mother, Isabel Lopez; Father, Ralph Alvarado; Brothers, Arthur and Reynaldo Lopez; Sisters, Rosemary Aguirre and Rachel Ortiz; and his dear stepson, Marc Ballin.
Ruben is survived by his devoted Wife of 40 years, Erlinda Lopez, who stood by his side through life's joys and challenges. He leaves behind his loving Children: Nichole (Tony) Llamas, Natalie (Henry) Gallarza, Rachelle (Leonard) Hawkins, and Ruben (Jennifer) Lopez.
