Timothy James DeBoer, 44, grew up in Hawthone, NJ, attended the Eastern Christian Schools, and Second Reformed Church, Wykoff, NJ. He attained the rank of Lance Corporal in the U.S. Marines, serving in Security Forces on North Island, San Diego, California. On discharge from the Marines, he attended Bergen Community College, Paramus, NJ, and Catawba College, Salisbury, NC. He then was employed by Tricarico Architecture, Wayne, NJ, was store designer for Toys R Us, Wayne, NJ. On moving to New York City, he served on the New York City Auxiliary Police Force, Times Square Division. On moving to Virginia, he graduated from the Virginia Beach Sheriff’s Dept. graduating with three out of five awards at graduation, Top Academic, Top Driver, and Top Overall, and served as a Deputy Sheriff for a number of years before joining the Virginia Beach Police Department and was honored to serve with them until the time of his death.
He is survived by his parents, Kenneth and Sharon DeBoer, of Charlotte, NC, a sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Bray Culpepper, a dear nephew and niece, Andy and Allison Culpepper of Waxhaw, NC,
Former wife, Carolyn Eadie DeBoer, current wife, Elizabeth Acosta, friend, Chris McCarty, Uncles and Aunts, Paul and Eileen DeBoer, Don and Jan DeBoer, Janet and Robert Jacobs, Laurel DeBoer, Ruth and Richard Barnett, and many cousins and friends.
A visitation period will be held at the Smith and Williams Funeral Home, 4889 Princess Anne Rd., Virginia Beach on Saturday, Jan. 30 from 5-8 PM. Burial will follow in Charlotte NC at a later date.
