Veronica Torres Canaday, age 61, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, died on Friday, August, 07, 2026 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She was born in Los Angeles, California on April 04, 1965 to Gonzalo R. Torres and Maria M Rico.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Maria M. Torres.

She is survived by her husband, Hillon Ray Canaday, Jr.; siblings Gonzalo Torres, Alma Ponce de Leon, Ricardo Torres, Javier Torres, and Juanita Galle; her children Marlaina Long, Daniel Canaday, and Elizabeth Canaday; her son in-law Jacob Long; and her beloved grandchildren, Arielle Long, Kyleigh Long, and Vincent Long.

Mrs. Canaday attended the Church of the Ascension and followed her Catholic faith. Her husband Ray fell in love with her the moment he met her and knew she was the one for him forever. She always put her family first. She was an extremely devoted wife to her husband and mother to her children and grandchildren. She was the energy and heart of our family that brought happiness to us all and lit up every room she walked into. She was the one with the positive energy that planned our family gatherings at no expense. She put others happiness above her own no matter what and always brought comfort to all around. Her lighthearted spirit was able to make all around her laugh with her humor and wit. Her caring nature drew all to her including people, pets, and animals of all kinds. She had a natural gift in giving, gardening, painting, art, and home decorations. Her favorite pastimes were family gatherings, shopping, listening to Christian music, watching ancient aliens, and spending time with her family and pets. She enjoyed traveling to Los Angeles, CA, Daleville, AL, Wilmington, NC, Albuquerque, NM to visit her mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and brothers and sisters as much as possible.

She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

A viewing will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Virginia Beach, VA on Friday August 14, 2026, from 12-1:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will begin at 1:00 PM. A Graveside Service will be held at Barlow-Vista Baptist Church in Hampstead, NC at 2:00 PM on Sunday, August 16, 2026, with Danny Justice officiating.
