After 8 1/2 years in the Navy, he was promoted to Chief, and shortly thereafter to Warrant Officer. In 1981 he joined the ship's company of the USS Carl Vinson under construction, making him a Plankowner. He retired as a CWO4, after 25 years. He immediately began a second career as Production Manager at American Systems Engineering Corporation (AmSec) which lasted another 27 years.
He was a kind, generous, gentle man who loved and valued his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
