Bill Roughton of Va. Beach was born in Norfolk to the late William C. and Ida Roughton. He served as a teacher and coach at Bayside and Kempsville High Schools. Bill graduated from The College of William and Mary. He also retired as an accountant for the Va. Beach School System after twenty years of service and was a U.S. Army World War II veteran.
Survivors include his loving wife, Winnie Roughton of 65 years, his beloved four children, Robin Morgan and her husband Butch, David Roughton and his wife Cherry, Randy Roughton and his wife Angela, Joan Temple and her husband David, eight grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
A celebration of Bill Roughton’s life will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2013, 2:00p.m. at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel. A reception will follow to celebrate his life.
