Virginia Beach- Zenaida Rolda Balabis, 79, passed away March 22, 2015. She was born January 3, 1936 in the Philippines to the late Ricardo and Filomena Rolda. Mrs. Balabis enjoyed ballroom dancing, singing, playing Mahjong, and spending time with her family and friends. Above all her family was most important.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Nida and Bill Luddecke, Ben Balabis, Mario and Loida Balabis, Mila and Bob Jordan, Merci Karpowich and Tommy Johnson, Carol and Carlos Cayaba, Sally Diomampo, Bernardo Balabis, Jr., Alan Balabis, Eliza Balabis and Jane DeGrand; brother, Arturo Tolentino; sisters, Flora Pangindian, Lydia Adrales, Carmencita Otey, Erlinda Non, Beth Reyes; she had 35 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bernardo Balabis.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. Friday, March 27, 2015 at Smith & Williams Funeral Home Kempsville Chapel. A funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 28, 2015 at the funeral home with burial to follow in Colonial Grove Memorial Park.
