

Allan passed away at home suddenly, on March 9, 2022, age 84. Allan was born in Fresno where his family moved to Clovis for a short time. In the early 40’s the family moved to Sanger, CA where Allan attended all his schooling, graduating from Sanger High in 1955. Allan attended Reedley College earning an AA Degree in Business Administration.
Allan was a Navel Reservist from 1955 – 1963. Allan worked many jobs from driving school bus while in high school, delivery driver at Blind Tom Drive-in, cooking at Sno White and working one season in Yosemite Park and Curry Co. After he met and married his sweetheart Rita Jean Styre in 1959, He got hired at First Western Bank and Trust, starting as a Teller and ending at Operations Manager. He was asked to move to LA to work at the data center but he declined the offer. He attended MTI Business School in Fresno, learning programming and computer operations. He worked at Electronic Business Services in Visalia for a few years, landing a job at Dairyman’s Co-op becoming a Computer Operations Manager until retirement in 1993 after his wife’s death.
During Allan’s time at Dairyman’s he was asked to take over membership in ‘DPMA’ Data Management Processing Association. He served as Secretary and Treasurer for 22 of his 23 years of service there. He and his wife Rita where also the Hospitality committee and he was known as ‘The Cheese Man’. He was also a member of the Association of Information Technology Professionals which is still active today. Allan received many awards for his service.
Allan was very involved in the Tulare Masonic Lodge and ran around the state joining other chapters where he served as Secretary/Recorder. Allan received the Hiram Award in 2003 and was Master of the lodge 2004-2005. Allan served on Temple Board and was President for several years. He joined the York Rite Visalia, Knights Templar, Saint Alban York Rite College Ventura. He also served as the President of Tulare County Scottish Rite Club receiving Grand Chapter Secretary of the Year Award for the state of California, Royal Arch Masons 2009.
He was Master of Kadosh Fresno Scottish Rite Valley 2007 and served as Banquet Room Chairman for Scottish Rite Valley of Fresno 2008-2021. He received the Ish Sodi award for Visalia Council No. 43 for 2010.
He then received Grand Council Recorder of the Year Award for the State of Ca 2011 from the Grand Council of Cryptic Masons of Ca along with the Grand Masters of Ish Sodi Award.
Allan also provided and created the newsletter for the state.
Allan missed his wife’s salsa so much that in 1997 he started making his own, which was known as Gringo Salsa. He even entered it in the Tulare Co Fair and won many prizes throughout the years. Best of Show twice.
Allan was also an avid Blood Donor and helped out at the Tulare 9/11 blood drives, the Tom Flores Memorial Blood drives in Fresno and ending in giving platelets to help cancer patients.
Allan donated almost 10 gallons of whole blood and he donated platelets 293 times!
Allan’s early cooking career lit up later in life as he cooked for his lodge brethren in Tulare and Scottish Rite brothers in Fresno for 13 years.

Allan was preceded in death by his wife Rita, son Scott and great granddaughter Natalee.
Allan is survived by his son Phillip Miller, his daughter Michele Moore (Jeff) grandchildren Nikki Moore (fiancé Gilbert Pecego) Matthew Moore and Lindsay Serrano, 5 Great Grandchildren Leila, Osvaldo, Raegan, Olivia and Emilio. 3 Step Great Grandchildren Brenden and Blake Pecego, and Tory Coffee, his sister Marilyn Dielhs
Serving as pallbearers are Phillip Miller, Rick Gregor, Jeff Moore, Jerry Goldsburg, Matthew Moore and Gilbert Pecego.
Cremation and private burial in Sanger Cemetery at a later date.
