

Bert D. Van Dyk, of Tulare County, California, was called home to be with our Lord on October 21, 2015. He was 84 years of age. Bert was cared for in his home and surrounded by family when he succumbed to his struggle with kidney failure.Bert was born to Dries and Anna Van Dyk on July 24, 1931, in Artesia, California. He attended Cerritos High School through the 10th grade, then began working for his father, driving truck, to help support the family. Thus he began his career, which also became his life's passion. On September 18, 1951, he wed Cynthia Harmsen and from then on he would always be her "Bartie". They were happily married for 56 blessed years. Together they started Van Dyk Trucking which grew from hauling cattle in the Chino Valley area, to hauling cattle throughout the state. His sense of humor and silly jokes (Cliff) will always be remembered. Bert and Cynthia were blessed with their four lovely daughters, Charlene, Linda, Judy, and Karen.Bert's wife Cynthia went to be with our Lord on July 4, 2007. On August 15, 2011, Bert married Anne Siegersma and spent the remaining of his life enjoying time and travel with her.Bert was a member of Trinity United Reformed Church in Visalia, California. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Cynthia, and his brother Henry Van Dyk. He is survived by his wife Anne Siegersma; his daughters: Charlene and Ralph Skelton, Linda and Joseph Lincoln, Judy Hegrenes, and Karen and Tim Garrett. Bert was blessed with 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He will be missed by his surviving family members, sister Gertie Cnossen, brothers Richard (Diane) Van Dyk, Andrew (JoAnn) Van Dyk, Frederick (Kathleen) Van Dyk, and John (Denise) Van Dyk.Viewing will be at Miller Memorial Chapel, 1120 W. Goshen Avenue, Visalia, California, on Monday, November 2, 2015, from 6 to 8 PM. Graveside services will be held for immediate family at 9 AM, Visalia Cemetery, 1300 W. Goshen Avenue, Visalia, California.A Tribute of Life will be at Trinity United Reformed Church, 6400 W. Walnut Avenue, Visalia, California, on Tuesday, November 3, 2015, at 10 AM, with reception immediately following.
