Betty Jean Stevenson Simon passed peacefully from this life, surrounded by her loving family, to join her husband, Jack, and her Lord and Savior on October 11, 2017. Betty was born in Visalia on February 6, 1928 to parents Rupert and Lena Stevenson. She attended Elbow Creek Elementary School, graduated from Visalia Union High School in 1946 and graduated from College of the Sequoias in 1948 as a legal secretary.
Betty married the love of her life, John (Jack) J. Simon, Jr. on April 9, 1949. Together they raised four daughters, hosted several foreign exchange students, traveled the world and enjoyed 61 years of marriage until Jack’s death in 2010. Family, her daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of Betty’s life. She was the strong foundation to our family and the light of our lives.
Betty was a tireless volunteer. Over the years she served on many PTA Boards, was active in the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and other church activities, and spent many hours volunteering in the American Cancer Society’s Visalia office. She was also an avid bridge player.
