Our Super Hero
After a fifteen month battle against an evil brain cancer we lost our precious son on Thursday February 6, 2014. He fought a gallant fight, never crying or complaining about the endless tests and procedures he endured including an eight month stay at St. Jude’s Hospital in Tennessee.
Cash was able to do so much in his short stay here, more than most adults. He brought together an entire community and beyond and had close to five thousand followers on his Prayers for Cash Shank website. He became a poster child for St. Judes after they helped him “kick cancers butt” in his first battle. He starred with Jennifer Aniston in a St. Jude’s commercial where he decided to change his script to call her beautiful when asking her to lunch. That’s our boy, always the charmer. During his campaign he also took a trip to New York to appear with Jimmy Fallon. We will all be blessed with such great memories of Cash. His wit and humor were definitely one of a kind. He leaves behind his parents Rob and Megan Shank, big brother Wyatt and little sister Graycee, of Visalia. Grandparents Alan and Pam Shank of Visalia.,Darrell Bradford of Ivanhoe. Charleen Bradford of Tulare. Rhonda and Tracy Edwards of Yucaipa. Great grandparents Dorothy and (the late) Bill Bradford, of Ivanhoe. Robert and (the late )Eileen Petersen,of Visalia and Ed and Norma Holden of Cutler. As well as numerous aunts, uncles,. and cousins.
We have had so much love and support in this journey that there is no way would could possibly thank everyone but would like to note a few here; St Jude’s Hospital, Valley Children’s Hospital, K Jug, Kaweah Delta Hospice, Miller Memorial Chapel, Tom and Dee Dee Gruber, KRC Graphics and Dona Shores.
A memorial service and reception will be held Thursday, February 13, 2014 at 1:00 pm at the Visalia Nazarene Church, 3333 W. Caldwell in Visalia. Burial will be private.
The family welcomes anyone that would like to celebrate the life of our superhero.
