She was the daughter of Kay Young and Kan Ngan York Young. After her family relocated to Santa Rosa, Cora worked alongside her parents and 11 siblings in the family restaurant as a cook and helped manage the family ranch.
In December 1959, Cora married Joe Gong and moved to Visalia, where they raised their four children: Daniel (Marilyn) Gong, David (Cindy) Gong, Diane Gong, and Douglas (Violet) Gong. Her deep devotion to her family was evident throughout her life.
Cora was a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren—Darin, Jennifer, Matthew, Karah, Alex (Angelica), Ryan (Eunice), Bryson, Andrew (Elaine), and Bailey (Rebecca)—and a great-grandmother to five great-grandchildren: Ethan, Noah, Eliana, Benaiah, and Chloe.
A wake will be held on August 14, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Miller Memorial Chapel. A Celebration of Life service will follow on August 15, 2025, at 9:00 a.m., also at Miller Memorial Chapel, located at 1120 W. Goshen Ave., Visalia, CA 93291. Cora will be laid to rest at Visalia Public Cemetery District at 11:00 a.m.
