A farmer, public servant, avid outdoorsman, and devoted father and friend, he was a lifetime resident of Tulare County. He was born and raised in Ivanhoe, and attended Redwood High School. After service in the U.S. Army in the early 1960s he began work at Delta Vector Control District where he worked until retirement. He was also a farmer throughout his life, taking care of the family orange farm in Ivanhoe where he grew up for over 50 years, and also farmed olives on his property in Elderwood for over 20 years.
He was a passionate outdoorsman who enjoyed and passed on many mountain pastimes, especially trout fishing in some of the central Sierra Nevada's most remote streams.
He is preceded in death by his father Harry Terstegge, his mother Katherine Terstegge, his brother Robert Terstegge, and his sister Mary Anne Terstegge.
He is survived by his sister Harriet Barton, his three children: Lisa Anne Davis and her husband Mark of Lindsay, Stephen Terstegge and his wife Heather stationed in Hawaii, and Damon Terstegge of Elderwood, seven grandchildren, his two faithful dogs, and a vast network of extended family and friends.
There will be a private burial and a celebration of life service will be held at Foothill Bible Church on Thursday, June 12 at 3pm. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in his name to the ASPCA or the American Cancer Society.
