Dennis Arie Boertje, 93, of Visalia, Ca, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on November 9, 2022. He was born on October 15, 1929, to Arie and Grace Boertje in Artesia, Ca. He grew up and lived there on their family dairy and graduated from Excelsior High School.
In 1948, he married the love of his life, Margie Veenendaal, and they were faithfully married for 65 years until Margie’s death in 2014. Together they had 5 children.
Dennis was a lifetime dairy farmer and worked very hard. Starting at the age of 23, in 1952, he purchased 56 cows from his father in Artesia, Ca. Three years later, in 1955, Dennis and Margie moved their business to Chino, Ca, where they operated their dairy until 1973. At that time, they moved their dairy to Visalia, Ca, which is still being operated today.
Dennis was a man of wisdom and a strong moral conviction. He loved the Lord and served in his church for many years on consistory and on church boards. His greatest joy was his family. He set a godly example as the head of his home. Our family will always cherish the wonderful memories of many happy celebrations in their home.
Dennis is survived by his family. He was a loving father to Gerrilyn married to Richard Iest, Dennis Jr. married to Rosemarie Ferrales, Shari married to Bob Van Groningen and Ed married to Terry Fikse. He was a loving Papa to 22 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Margie, their infant daughter Shirley, their infant grandson Michael Van Groningen, his brother Mike Boertje and his sister Barbara Selles.
Dennis was loved so much and will be dearly missed by his family and friends, but we rejoice to know that he is safe in the arms of Jesus.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, November 17, at 11:00am at Tulare Community Church, 1820 N. Gem St, Tulare, Ca.
Viewing and Burial will be private for family only.
Dennis believed strongly in Christian Education. In lieu of flowers, please send your memorials to the Christian school of your choosing.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.millerchapel.com for the Boertje family.
