

Douglas Alden Burr was born on April 16, 1966 in Visalia, California. He passed away on February 10, 2016 at the age of 49. Doug attended Visalia schools, graduating from Redwood High School in 1985, where he was president of his senior class. He went on to college at University of Southern California where he was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. He graduated in 1989 with a BS degree in Real Estate Finance.
While at U.S.C., Doug met the love of his life, Patricia Denby. They were married in 1993 in Visalia, CA. Doug and Trish moved to Visalia in 1994, where he joined his dad, David, at Peltzer and Burr Real Estate. He then went on to form Burr Commercial Real Estate. Doug successfully completed the comprehensive exam in order to receive his Certified Membership in Commercial Investment Real Estate Institute (CCIM). Those who have earned the CCIM designation exemplify the industry’s highest professional standards. He had a great deal of success in commercial real estate, mainly due to his love of people and his enthusiastic nature.
Doug participated in community activities and was especially supportive of the Visalia Police Department, having been on the board of the Friends of the Visalia Police K-9 for many years.
He especially enjoyed many fun weekends at Shaver Lake with his family and many friends. He had a love for the outdoors with a passion for fly fishing, bird hunting, and skiing.
Doug is survived by his loving wife, Trish, of 22 years and his children, Dylan and Madelyn, whom he adored. He is also survived by his parents David and Lynn Burr and his brother Bob and wife Sophia as well as many close and supportive friends.
Doug’s love for his family and friends and for Visalia will be greatly missed but his humor and fun loving nature will be remembered by everyone who knew
him.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00am Wednesday, February 17th at the Gateway Church of Visalia, 1100 S. Sowell, Visalia.
