Edwin Wayburne Street

October 20, 1933November 1, 2019

Edwin Street was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on October 20, 1933 to Roy Edwin and Venita (Chester) Street. He passed away on November 1, 2019 in Visalia, California. Edwin married the love of his life Irene Salcedo.

Edwin was definitely a man to spend time with his family in so many ways, camping, fishing, boating, going to the coast, hunting, drag races. No matter what, he had his family with him. Edwin served in the Army at a young age and upon returning, he married Irene Salcedo and together it was always about family. He worked in construction for Albert Pearson for the majority of his life until he retired. Edwin loved flying around in his ultralight plane, and truly loved going flying with his brother in law Herschel O’Brien. He was also a man that always had something for the nephews and nieces to do when coming to the house over summer vacations and weekends, and he always seemed to make up nicknames for many. Edwin himself had a nickname, Pooky and he was proud to use this nickname. Many summer months, the driveway became a slip and slide with water and soap without any injuries. Irene was the love of his life and he always enjoyed her sitting on his lap, or right next to him and would still hold hands until she became ill and passed away at the age of 64. Edwin, then wanted to take on what he called mom’s job, that of taking the grandkids to and from school. He had asked if he could take on that job and enjoyed it, but you had better be out there on time. He was also one, that you had better not pass him up on the road, this was a challenge for him, the race was on. Dad would call us pretty much daily and ask, if you were busy…and if you weren’t he more than likely had something for you to do. Edwin was also a man that would not want to pay anyone to repair his vehicles, he would figure it out, and many times would make his own parts, especially on his special 33 Ford that he was so proud of. He was quite the jokester, and you never knew when he would slam a board down just to get a rise from you or scare you in some way. Edwin will be missed in so many different ways. So many of the nephews and nieces have had many funny stories to tell about dad, special fond memories that has helped us during this difficult time. For a man that did not have many words, he sure impacted many lives in one way or another.

Edwin is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Venita Street; his wife, Irene Street; his son, Robert Street and his granddaughter, Toni Lynette Street; his sister, Sherline Street Tonn Ross. His memory will be cherish by his daughters, Denise Street Clark, Toby Strret Burnett and his son, Courtney Street; his sister, Francine Street Tallon Hedgecoth and his brother, Wendell Ray Street. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Christopher Wilcox, Kendell Burnett, Josh Long, Britani Long, Holley Hulsey, Shelby Reyes, Mallory Street, Randy Corbitt, Stephanie Perry; and his great grandchildren, Colbie Wilcox, McKenna Wilcox, Nathan Garcia, Liam Montgomery, Levi Montgomery, Kaliyah Montgomery, Jordan Street, Avery Castro & Luna Castro, Gwyndalynn Hulsey, Jude Hulsey, Prudence Hulsey, Radly Street, Kali Reyes.
