

Frank was born August 2, 1947 in Vernon, Texas to Benjamin and Mary Ann Barker. After a brave battle, Frank passed away, surrounded by his loved ones, November 5, 2025 in Visalia, CA due to complications of advanced prostate cancer.
He came to California as a child. During his youth Frank mowed lawns, had a paper route, worked at Mel’s Drive In, at several service stations, and Struble’s Auto Parts (always a hard worker). He attended Tulare schools and graduated from Tulare Western High School in 1965.
Frank served honorably in the US Army from 1966-1968. He was awarded the Silver Star and the Purple Heart for his service in Vietnam.
He was known for his strong work ethic and resourcefulness. He was an all around handyman, who could always be counted on to lend a helping hand. Frank was an avid reader. He enjoyed trap shooting and was passionate about cars. He built his ‘29 Ford Roadster from the ground up.
Frank married Evelyn Nunes October 9, 1971. They have been a wonderful team and a fine example of love and commitment for 54 years. Frank loved his family deeply.
He worked at Tharp’s Trucking where he purchased their auto parts department and started Barker’s Auto Parts (Napa). He owned and operated several stores in the surrounding area before selling the business and settling back in Tulare. He worked for Boswell and Sierra Ford New Holland, then was able to get in on the ground floor of U.S. Farm Systems, where he worked until his retirement. He was also part owner of Great American Auction Company until it closed in 2007.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, sisters Sandra and Mary Ann, brothers Charlie and Benny and son-in-law Jeremey.
Frank is survived by his wife Evelyn, daughters Sandy Doucette (Jeremey) of Pismo Beach and Cindy Sappington (John) of Tulare. Grandchildren Yelenis Bardfield (Cameron) of Texas, Thomas Sappington of Thailand, Cassandra Sappington and Cole Sappington both of Tulare, and sister Janie McDermett of Texas.
Graveside services are Friday, November 21, 2025 at noon at Tulare Public Cemetery, 900 E Kern Ave.
