Man my Gramps my heart is just breaking. I was so very lucky to have the opportunity and strength to follow in your footsteps. You were the greatest role model I could have asked for as a soldier. I'm going to miss having you here to love and hug but you always will be in my heart and my spirit. I will never forget how lucky I am to be the granddaughter of a hero like you. I hate that you're gone, I just hate it. What I would give to get one more kiss and hug goodbye..... I love you gramps, I just don't know what I'm gunna do without you..... Give my babe a hug and kiss for me..... Love always and forever.... Your Kaylita

I have so many wonderful memories of Gilbert. He always treated me just like one of his kids. A lot of my childhood was spent with him and his family. He even made the back fence easier for us to climb back and forth between our houses so we all didn't have to walk around. He will be missed so much. What an amazing man he was.
