

Tom passed away peacefully on January 22 at the age of 74 after a long, valiant battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Tom was born in Artesia, California, on July 18, 1950 to Aleid and Maria Bos – van Ingen Schenau. He is survived by his brother Case Bos (Sandie) and sisters Susan Dale (Ennis), Shirley Bos, and Linda Miedema (Steve); nieces and nephews Brenda Bos (Janis Reid) and Tim Bos, Krystn Dale (Chris LoDolce), Brandon Dale (Lisa), Kira Dale (Steve Boyenger), Jeff Talen (Kelly), Greg Talen (Niccole) and Andrew Miedema; also great-nieces and nephews Kyle and Lauryn Bos, Joshua Martinez, Alexis, Avery and Zoe LoDolce, Aidan, Natalie and Ava Dale, Peter and Calvin Pfisterer, Jed Boyenger, and Trevor and Torrey Talen, and a great-great niece, Kamila Martinez. Tom is also survived by many wonderful cousins both in the United States and The Netherlands.
Tom attended kindergarten at Carmenita School in Norwalk, CA and first through 6th grade at Artesia Christian School. He graduated from Ontario Christian High School in 1968 and Cal Poly State University in San Luis Obispo, with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture with a major in Farm Management, in 1972.
Tom began working for Burt Fugate, now Charter Investment Company, in Santa Maria, CA, from 1972-1973 and started his Wooden Shoe Landscape Maintenance Company in Visalia in 1974. Tom designed and maintained immaculate lawns and gardens for 41 years until he retired in 2015.
Tom was a very kind man and had many friends both in his church and civic communities, and wherever he went. He also loved animals and enjoyed traveling to many beautiful places throughout our country and abroad.
Our family wishes to thank Tom’s pastors, the staff at Sierra Village and Park Visalia Assisted Living, and all his many, dear friends who have shared so much love with Tom, including the local Parkinson’s Support Group.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Visalia Christian Reformed Church, 1030 South Linwood Street in Visalia, with a reception to follow at the church.
