Jack Ray Justice, born October 3, 1934, entered into eternity with our Lord May 24, 2021, at the age of 86. He was born to Elmer and Kate Justice in Springdale, Arkansas on October 3, 1934. They moved to California a few years later and settled in Woodlake, California.
Jack went through the Woodlake School System from kindergarten through high school and graduated in 1952. In is freshman year, Jack and his buddies hauled sheets of tin and created the “W” on the hill above Woodlake.
He entered into the United States Army in 1957 and while stationed in Berlin, he earned a citation for Medical, Sharpshooter and a Good Conduct Medal. He then went into the Army Corps of Engineers and was on the Survey Crew for the dam at Lake Kaweah.
Jack married Joyce Davidson in 1962. They had two children, Debra and Timothy. Jack married Nancy (Halls) Hutchinson in 1970. She brought five boys to the marriage, Robert, Chet, Dean, Hank and John. Jack and Nancy were married 44 years.
Jack is survived by his six children and their spouses: Robert & Teresa Hutchinson, Therese Hutchinson, Mike & Debra (Justice) O’Neill, Dean Hutchinson, Hank Hutchinson, Timothy Justice and John Hutchinson. As well as his brother Bill and wife Sheryl Justice and his sister Frankie Peck. He has 24 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
Jack was proceeded in death by his wife Nancy and their son Chet Hutchinson.
He loved fishing, hunting and camping and liked to be outdoors as much as possible. He never met a stranger and left a loving impression on everyone he met.
Jack had a long career at the City of Woodlake, starting in 1975 and after 20 years, retired as the City Administrator in 1995.
Jack took up woodworking when he retired and has made several beautiful works of intarsia wood art, which have been sold in various places throughout the state.
A viewing is to be held Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at Miller Memorial Chapel, 134 N. Cypress Street, Woodlake, California from 5 to 7pm. Funeral services for Jack will be held Thursday, June 3, 2021 at 9 am also at Miller Memorial Chapel in Woodlake. Interment will be at Woodlake Cemetery immediately following the service.
