

Jean Holahan passed away surrounded by loving family members on August 13, 2011 in Visalia.
Born in Visalia on May 1, 1930 to parents Jules Joseph and Laurence H. Philippe, she attended local schools and graduated from Visalia High School in 1948. Her passion for caring and giving led her to San Francisco to pursue a degree in Nursing from Saint Mary’s College, and then she servedas a registered nurse on the orthopedics floor at Kaweah Delta Medical Center.
Jean married Philip G. Holahan in 1954, a Visalia real estate broker, and together they raised a blessed family of six children; Kathy Wells and husband Chuck, Peggy Anderson and husband Bob, Patti Doi and husband Robert, Tom Holahan and wife Sharon, Steve Holahan and wife Sandi, and Christine Hindley and husband David. Jean loved spending time with her children, 16 grandchildren, and one great grand son.Jean was preceded in death by her husband Phil,brothers Eddie and Julian Philippe, and daughters Peggy and Kathy.
In recent years, Jean enjoyed playing cards with friends and family, activities as a Red Hatter, and spending time with her dogs Lucy and Dezi. She will be missed greatly by all family members and especially her beloved sister and life-long best friend, Anne Philippe. Yet we will cherish the many loving memories of her and being a part of a large, happy family. We are comforted in knowing that she is now with her savior, Jesus Christ.
A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, August 19th at 10:30am at Christ Lutheran Church, 3830 W. Tulare Ave., Visalia. Everyone is invited to a light luncheon and beverages immediately following Memorial Service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
