Born on November 10, 1947, in Pico, Azores, to Antonio and Guiomar Domingos, Joe’s life was defined by courage, sacrifice, and determination from an early age. At just 12 years old, he immigrated to the United States with his family, carrying with him the hopes of a better future. At 16, he made the selfless decision to leave high school to help support his family financially. That sacrifice marked the beginning of a lifetime devoted to hard work and unwavering commitment to those he loved.
Joe began working in the dairy industry as soon as he was able, dedicating himself to honest, demanding labor. Through perseverance and grit, he achieved the American Dream he had set out to pursue. Over the course of his career, he proudly owned his own dairy, and before a forced retirement, he worked as a respected herdsman. He was known for his strong work ethic, deep knowledge, and steadfast reliability—qualities that earned him the respect of colleagues and friends alike.
Beyond his work, Joe embraced life with energy and passion. His first love was his ’68 GTO (all black with white interior), and he loved street racing whenever he had the chance—after long days of work or on his one day off each month. He also enjoyed playing soccer for the Tulare Angrense Athletic Club, bowling, and recreational softball, always enjoying a little friendly competition and camaraderie.
Soon after meeting the love of his life, Margaret, Joe’s world was forever changed. They married in 1969 and built a beautiful life together that spanned 56 devoted years. Together they raised three children—Carrieann, John, and Brianna—instilling in them the values of faith, family, and hard work. Joe labored tirelessly to provide for his family, always placing their needs above his own and leading by example.
In his quieter moments, Joe found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved watching Raiders football, reading the sports pages, tuning in to FOX News or any classic Western he could find, and his daily walks. He was known for his jolly spirit, kind heart, and easy smile that could light up a room. His presence brought comfort, laughter, and a steady strength to everyone around him.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret Domingos; his children, Carrieann Domingos, John Domingos, and Brianna Domingos; his brother Manuel Domingos of Visalia; his brother Tony Domingos of Turlock; and his 6 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Guiomar Domingos, and his sister.
Joe’s life stands as a testament to faith, sacrifice, and the enduring power of family. From a young immigrant boy in Pico to a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and businessman, he leaves behind a legacy of resilience, love, and integrity. His story is one of courage and commitment—a powerful reminder that the American Dream is built on hard work, strong faith, and a heart devoted to others.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A memorial viewing and service will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at Miller Memorial Chapel 1120 West Goshen Avenue, Visalia, California 93291 with a Celebration of Life to follow.
