Johannes Vellema (Johan) was born on July 23, 1949 in Blije, Friesland (Netherlands) to Ybele and Jeltje (née Lycklama à Nijeholt) Vellema. He passed away in Visalia, CA on August 7, 2026. Johan is survived by his spouse Veronica, and his children and stepchildren – Jeltje Vellema, Johan Vellema, Missy Woods, Kim Figueroa, Kate Woods, Kellie Smith, and their families. He is also survived by Renny Van der Schaaf (sister) and Piet Vellema (brother), as well as their respective families.
He was a creative thinker with an eye for improvement, constantly scanning the environment and exploring solutions. He also loved to find time to relax, have a beer with the dog by the river, or connect with others.
He was a beloved father and teacher to others. He is missed tremendously.
