Lawrence "Larry" Hurtado Borbon, age 68, of Visalia, California passed away on Monday, November 8, 2021. Lawrence "Larry" was born September 1, 1953 to Manuel C. Borbon and Delia Hurtado Borbon, he lived with his parents and brothers in Lindsay California. There he graduated from Lindsay High School with the class of 1971. In his youth he worked as a mechanic and eventually worked with the Coors Racing Team. He worked for distribution for Miller and Coors and he later sold insurance for California Farmer, Harvest Insurance and GE. He retired from sales in 2002 when he was diagnosed with Intervascular Lymphoma of the Brain. Larry enjoyed traveling, camping, golfing, with family and friends and going outdoors to ride his bike. He enjoyed going to the drag races in L.A. with his brother Carlos. His favorite activity was to fish the rivers and lakes around the valley and up in Oroville California. He even designed his own fishing lures called the Weazell to catch trout. He loved listening to Country Western Music artists George Strait and Vince Gill, Mariachi; and loved listening to Classic Rock especially Van Halen very loudly! He loved wearing Wrangler jeans and his Western Cowboy boots. He loved laughing and the Three Stooges. His favorite genre of movie was comedies and loved Chevy Chase and all the old SNL greats. He loved holidays and found any reason to have a get together where he could smoke some BBQ and fire up the grill. He was a die-hard fan of the San Francisco Giants and L.A. then Oakland Raiders, and collegiate football Michigan Wolverines. He liked playing Yoshi on Super Nintendo. He loved having a fish tank and would sit and watch the fish swim for hours. He loved clouds in the sky and photographing them. He loved participating in Chili Cook-offs and even won a few trophies with his group “The Major Jalapeños”. His favorite holiday was Christmas and looked forward to getting the Christmas Tree and decorating it while watching “It’s A Wonderful Life” or “Christmas Vacation”. He strove to have a good work ethic and instilled it in his daughter who is now instilling it in her sons. Please remember Larry as the laughing, sociable, and friendly man he was. He is now in Heaven with his parents Manuel and Delia and Brother John and is fishing with Jesus.

Surviving family members are his daughter Cheryl M. Wissel (Borbon), Son-in-Law Jonathan M. Wissel, Grandsons Elijah Lawrence, Micah Charles and Jacob Wyatt of Emmett, Idaho. His Brother Carlos H. Borbon of Visalia Ca., Nephew Richard C. Borbon of Oakland, CA., Niece Sarah E. Borbon of Fresno, CA., Nephews Eric J. Borbon of Hanford, CA., Kris D. Borbon of Visalia, CA., and many other family members throughout California and USA.
