Lucille "Lucy" Carrillo, a woman of extraordinary love and compassion, was born on January 20, 1947, in Seville, California to Jesus L. and Maria (Silva) Ramirez. She went to meet the Lord on August 3, 2026, in Visalia, California. Her memory will live on forever through the countless lives she impacted within her family and community. Her infectious smile, boundless love, and selfless spirit will never be forgotten.
As a wife, a mom, grandma/great grandma and sister, she cherished spending time with family. Lucy enjoyed hosting family meals, celebrating holidays together, and traveling to Lake Tahoe. She invited her grandkids over for sleepovers and always cooked their favorite meals. Lucy enjoyed shopping and often bought gifts for people just because she was thinking about them. An elementary teacher for fifteen years, she inspired children to enjoy learning and dream big for their futures. She integrated cultural experiences into the classroom (e.g. making homemade tortillas) and invited families to be part of the classroom community. An advocate for migrant families, Lucy finished her career helping Spanish speaking students gain access to community resources. Her devotion to those she loved was constant, and her hard work reflected the strength and dignity with which she was raised and lived each day.
Lucy is survived by her husband of 56 years, Nazario Carrillo; her children, Victor Carrillo, Gloria Torres, and Maria Lemus; 10 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Phyllis Encinas, Cecilia Mendez, Rita Encinas, and Ray Ramirez. Lucy was preceded in death by her father, Jesus L. Ramirez; her mother, Maria Silva Ramirez; and her siblings, Lupe Contreras, Jenny Garcia, Jesse Ramirez, and Joe Ramirez.
