

Martin Villanueva Perez was born November 11, 1922 in Aguascaliente, Mexico and passed away March 3 in Tulare, California at the age of 94. After coming to this country as a young man he established himself as a family man in Visalia, CA. He was an important member of his community, coaching his children, grandchildren, and neighbors in baseball and other sports. Martin had a significant role in the building of Holy Family Catholic Church as a fundraiser and construction worker. Martin was a gifted athlete playing soccer as a youth, bowling as a young man and golf for most of his adult life.
Martin is predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Doris, his parents, 12 siblings and 2 great-grandchildren.
Martin is survived by his 5 children: Barbara Gil (Edmund), Patricia Martinez (Tony), Marty Perez (Judy), Jerry Perez, and Susan Gray as well as 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, his brother-in-law Arthur Garcia and sister-in-law Amelia Wiseman and numerous nieces and nephews.
Those wishing to celebrate his life in reflection and prayer may visit Miller Memorial Chapel at 1120 W. Goshen Ave., Visalia on Thursday, March 16th from 4pm – 8pm with recitation of the Rosary at 6pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1908 N. Court St., Visalia, CA at 10:30 am on Friday, March 17th followed by Interment at Visalia Public Cemetery District.
