Born Paul Filiberto Flores on June 15, 1952 to Paul Duran Flores and Mary Cabrera in Visalia, CA. He grew up on the Northside of town, the Barrio where most of his cousins and familia lived. Later moving to Exeter in 1971 where he resided until his death.
Paul worked for the last ten years or more at the Exeter Senior Citizen Trailer Park and throughout Exeter as a maintenance worker and gardener. Cleaning, sweeping and pulling weeds for Valeros, Pic & Go and whomever else needed work done. He would get up at the crack-of-dawn and take off on his two or three wheeler bikes with hoe, shovel and blower in hand or in his bike cart. You could hear him singing and howling as he rode his bike to work. Always with a big smile, beautiful laugh, and sense of humor. He not only loved to tell you jokes or play jokes on you he was a ladies man and saw beauty in everyone and everything! Paul also kept our mother and dad’s house and yard, and that yard was his pride and joy. He kept it up to LA US Open Golf standards. He was a perfectionist, meticulous, and proud man even to the end.
Paul played guitar at a young age with his Primos, Bebo Moreno, Lee Lara, Phillip Moreno, and many more. He loved the oldies, especially “Daddy’s Home” singing it with us in his final days. He loved to dance and no one could do the splits like him. James Brown had nothing on Paul!
Paul loved his mom more than anything in this world. The love they had for each other is like no other we have ever witnessed. He lived for her and worried about her till the end. He would look at her with so much love and tell her she was so beautiful and his ‘Queen’. A few days before his passing, he put his weak arm around her, looked into her eyes and mumbled “I Love You”. He loved his family so much and they loved him. He knew God and called out to Him and for God to help him.
He will be waiting for us when the time comes and will be singing one of his oldies as we enter the greatest dance floor in Heaven and in a heartbeat ‘BAMM!’ he’s down and instantly back up, the King of splits is home.
Paul is preceded in death by his father, Paul D. Flores; stepfather, Elmo Hernandez; brother, Johnny Flores; and sister, Eileen Flores.
Paul leaves behind, his beloved mother, Mary C. Hernandez, who he loved with all his heart and soul; his children, Paul Anthony and his wife, Monica, daughter, Denise Marie and her husband, Ediie, and Michael and Stephanie Flores; and his all of his grandchildren who he loved with all of his heart; his siblings, Susie Renteria, Teddy Flores, Manuel Hernandez, Maria Aguilar, Mitzi Malone, Frances Espinoza, Juan Flores, Paul Flores, and Michelle Flores; and numerous family and friends.
