Married to Jullia Ward for 47 years until her death in 1995. Ray had 7 children: Butch, Judy, Lucky, Rita Maggie, Ruthie and Angelic.
Ray was a skilled worker in many fields, loved horses, traded horses, welded horse trailer, gates, trailers, trimmed trees and did road work. He was considered a master carpenter in the ‘50’s and helped build many homes in the Visalia area.
Fishing for Catfish at Elephant Butte Lake was a family passion. His wisecracks and practical jokes were legendary. His inventive ways of dealing with his Parkinsons’ gave many people a chuckle. He still signed himself out to wheel down the street to yard sales up until the last month of his life.
Surviving siblings are Beulah, Tubby, and Lucy. Ray is survived by his children, 21 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Kaweah Manor for their kind treatment of him these last few years.
Ray’s ashes will be buried next to Jullie at the Barton Cemetery near Edgewood, New Mexico.
Memorial gathering will be at Amigo’s Restaurant in Visalia at 11:30 am on Tuesday, June 6, 2017.
