

Raymond W. Yenigues, born February 25, 1939 in St. Louis, Missouri, went home to Jesus on December 26, 2009.He is survived by his loving family, wife, Kathy of 37 years, sons Joshua Yenigues of Visalia, Michael Yenigues of Virginia, Sean (Cochran) Yenigues of San Diego and daughters Celeste Parras of Visalia, and Victoria Reimer of Clovis, a brother Paul Yenigues of St. Louis, a sister, Dorothy Huebner of St. Louis, and numerous nieces and nephews. Raymond graduated with a Master’s degree from San Francisco State University in 1976, and completed double Doctorate degrees from La Salle University, LA in 1996 and 1997.He worked for the Community College District of San Francisco servicing veterans, student services, community programs, resource development, and as Night Chancellor for a time from 1973-1976. He moved with his family to Visalia in 1977 and was soon involved in servicing the community through a food ministry to the poor which continued through 2007. He was an original supporter of the Visalia Rescue Mission, having written their non-profit status by-laws and was involved in developing non-profit status for other ministries. He formed his own ministry Christian Alliance Center in 1983 which operated out of a building on North East Third Street, Visalia from 1983-1990 giving out food, clothes, and sometimes helping people with their utility bills. He supported and put on holiday dinners for the poor besides distributing turkeys, hams, and pies to individual homes. In recent years he was fondly referred to as “the bread man”, by local non-profit group homes for which he weekly supplied donated bread. Although he owned a recycling business for a time, worked as a business consultant and prepared business plans, his heart was with the unemployed, under-employed and homeless.A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Saviors Community Church on 615 E.
