Tony was born in Visalia, California on March 24, 1925 to John and Alexanderina Jacques. He graduated from Visalia Unified High School in 1944. Tony entered the United States Navy on March 29, 1944 and served until May 23, 1946 during World War II, earning two Asiatic Pacific Stars. On February 23, 1951, he re-entered the United States Navy, serving until February 22, 1955 during the Korean Conflict, earning a National Defense Service Medal. Tony was a Line Truck Driver for many years and traveled nine states. In December 1973 he married Clara Aguiar Jacques and they made their first home in Stockton until he retired at the age of 57. At that time they moved to Visalia to make their home. Following retirement Tony joined the Visalia Country Club where he loved to play golf. He was very active with the Veterans Administration and the Portuguese Lodges. Clara preceded him in death on May 1, 2007.
Tony leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter Marilou McClellan and husband Jerry of Beaverton, OR: two grandchildren, Paul McClellan and wife Marnie and Amanda Burghardt and husband, Joe; three great grandchildren, Sean McClellan, Katie Krueger and Ian McClellan and four great great grandchildren, Jacques McClellan, Paityn McClellan, Samuel Krueger and Owen Kruegar.
Visitation will be held at Miller Memorial Chapel, 1120 W. Goshen Avenue in Visalia, California on Thursday, December 6, 2012 from 3 - 6 p.m. with Recitation of Rosary immediately following at 6 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 7, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Visalia. Burial will follow at Visalia District Cemetery.
