You were a wonderful father, always looking out for me and providing me the best advice. We would have these great talks where I would get a little more insight into our family history, decisions you made, or how you thought about the world. I'll miss you dad.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce Vincent Cheng passed away peacefully in his home on January 3rd, 2025. Vincent was 85 years young and he will be deeply missed.
Vincent was born on May 1, 1939 in China. During the Second World War, his family moved to Hong Kong. Vincent met the love of his life, Lorna, in a church youth group, and they were married for 51 years until her passing in 2017. They came to America to attend college at Southern Methodist University, and later became naturalized citizens. Vincent eventually went to medical school at Baylor University and practiced medicine for over 50 years as a radiation oncologist.
Vincent and Lorna moved to Visalia, CA in 1989. For over 35 years they stayed active in their church, tennis, golf, and most importantly the Visalia Bridge Club. They loved their community and the wonderful friends they made over the years. Vincent and Lorna most enjoyed hosting gatherings at their home and having family visit.
Vincent is survived by his son, Lester, and his grand-daughters Lauren and Kate. He is very proud to have witnessed their graduations from High School and their attendance at University. Vincent is also survived by his siblings Richard, Pearl and Paul Cheng.
A public memorial for Vincent will be held at Rise Church, 1023 N Chinowth St, Visalia, CA on January 20th at 10:00 a.m., with a light lunch after the ceremony. In lieu of flowers and in honor of his generous spirit, the family asks that donations be made to Rise Church.
