Angela Summer Smith, 70, passed away on September 23, 2026. Born May 25, 1956, Angela will be remembered with deep respect and enduring gratitude for a life marked by steadfast love, faithful devotion, and quiet strength.
The youngest of four sisters, Angela grew up alongside Janet Morrow, Linda Richardson, and Joyce Schwartz (deceased). She graduated from Brookland Cayce High School, Class of 1973, where she was honored as Miss Jr. She continued her education at Midlands Tech, earning an associate degree in 1975 — an early reflection of the diligence and determination that would shape her years to come.
Angela gave generously of herself through decades of hard work and dependable service. She worked for Dr. Carlos Smith as a dental assistant for 43 years and also served at Lexington Medical Center for 26 years. In every role, she was known for her kind-hearted spirit, her resilience, and the steady way she showed up for others—day after day, year after year.
On April 5, 1975, Angela married Rickie Smith, and together they shared 51 years and 6 months of marriage. She was a loving and cherished wife, a devoted mother to her son, Justin Smith, and a loyal friend whose care was felt in practical, meaningful ways. She is also survived by her best friend, June Harrelson. Angela was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Gwendolyn Summer, and her sister, Joyce Schwartz.
Angela found joy in simple pleasures and shared experiences—going to the beach, taking cruises, and shopping. She also delighted in crafts of many kinds, especially making wreaths for friends, gifts that carried her thoughtfulness and generosity. As a dedicated team mom, she took pride in supporting Justin, faithfully attending the sporting events he participated in and offering the steady encouragement that families never forget.
A woman of faith, Angela attended First Baptist Church West Columbia. Her life reflected a spirit that could be counted on - unselfish, compassionate, and willing to lend a hand. Even in adversity, she remained a fighter, meeting challenges with resolve and refusing to give up, leaving behind a legacy of perseverance and grace.
