Mrs. Fulmer was a resident of Cayce, SC and a member of Broadacres Baptist Church since 1966. She was active in the Woman’s Missionary Union, taught Sunday School, and worked with the Girl’s Auxiliary at the church. While primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Fulmer was also employed by the SC Education Association. She and her husband loved to travel and were able to visit all 50 states. Her great love for the University of SC Gamecocks began when Red became a student there. Her loyalty to the school never wavered, and in the fall you would always find her tailgating at the Farmer’s Market or on the road following the team and hoping for a football victory. The 95 years she lived were during extraordinary, world changing times. She was always thankful to have lived when she did and appreciated the many gifts she was given.
Mrs. Fulmer was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, McRaney “Red” Fulmer; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Bill and Edie Whitaker, and Frank and Joyce Croft; and son-in-law John Gunter.
Mrs. Fulmer is survived by her two children, Debbie Gunter and Mac Fulmer (Sheila) of Cayce; five grandchildren, Gray Gunter (Stephanie Campbell), Garrison Gunter, Griffin Gunter (Shannon), Rane Fulmer (Kimberly), and Anna Smith (Andrew); two great-grandchildren, Lilly Gunter and Mack Fulmer; a brother, Pic Hair (Carole) of Batesburg; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A private service for Mrs. Fulmer will be held at a later date. Memorials can be made to Broadacres Baptist Church at 2350 Taylor Road, Cayce, SC 29033; Oliver Gospel Mission at PO Box 7697, Columbia, SC 29202; or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
