Born in the community of Mount Pisgah on October 20, 1937, Barbara was the daughter of Broadus Franklin and Neely Catoe Holley and the beloved sister of Gary (Gordon) Stumpo. A proud graduate and valedictorian of Mount Pisgah High School, she was known from an early age for her intelligence, kindness, and determination.
Barbara was the loving mother of three sons — Barry (Angie), Larry (Sharon), and Ronnie (Kristy) — who were her pride and joy. They tested her patience and kept her laughing with their endless energy, but she wouldn’t have had it any other way. She was their biggest fan, cheering them on at every game, race, and match, whether it was on the track, field, court or diamond.
She adored her seven grandchildren: Jade (Justin) Krantz, Joshua Taylor, Lindsay Taylor, Eric Taylor, Devin (David) McClelland, Zeb Taylor, and Trig Taylor; and her three great-grandchildren: Kayden, Ainsley, and Ryder Krantz — each of whom brought her immense joy. Family was always at the center of her life, and her love could be felt in every small gesture — from her warm hugs to her contagious little giggle that could brighten even the hardest day.
Barbara had a gentle soul and a special place in her heart for animals, especially the strays who always seemed to find their way to her doorstep. She loved her dogs, her puzzles, and her sweets — the simple joys that made up a beautiful life.
In her final weeks, Barbara showed the same quiet strength that defined her life. She seemed ready to rest, and on her 88th birthday, she found her peace.
Barbara will be remembered for her warmth, humor, and the love she poured into her family. Her spirit will live on in the laughter and kindness she inspired in everyone who knew her.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at a date yet to be determined.
