Betty Spires Almond went home to join the Lord on Saturday, November 25, 2023. She was united with her beloved husband, Larry Hubert Almond, along with her beloved parents, James Herbert (Hub) and Lue Mae Spires.
Betty is survived by her two children, Kim (Gregg) Brazell and Tim (Beth) Almond; and five grandchildren, Kalyn (Brandyn) Thibault, Ryan and Tyler Brazell, Katherin and Darrin Almond.
Betty was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and Grammy. She was an accountant and published author. Her books include, “Like a Promise” and “Harm’s Done.” She loved puzzles of all kinds, computer games, writing, reading, history, and spending time with her family. She considered her marriage, children, and grandchildren her greatest accomplishments. Betty was considered to be the matriarch of her family. She was often a source of wisdom and advice for her family and friends.
Betty will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren, and surviving brother and sisters, Jerry (Sue) Spires, Edith (Hank) Epting, Marie (Joe) Sylvester, Tammy (Richard) Glenn, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Betty will be held Thursday, November 30, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home - West Columbia Chapel, 820 West Dunbar Road, West Columbia, South Carolina 29170. A funeral service will occur Friday, December 1, 2023 at 11:00 AM, 820 West Dunbar Road, West Columbia, South Carolina 29170, followed by a burial at Southland Memorial Gardens, 700 West Dunbar Road, West Columbia, South Carolina 29170.
