She will be remembered for her sweet smile, sassy attitude, and yes, don’t forget those red velvet cakes. Her love for her family was unconditional, but you could always tell when she didn’t like something you said or did. A very precious lady to us all, she will be greatly missed.
Corene was born February 15, 1932 to Melvin and Ida Belle Spires. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; her brothers, Lamar Jeffcoat and Clarence Spires; and her sisters, Ruth Spires and Linda Chavis. She leaves behind to cherish her memories, her children, Randy Chavis (Carolyn), Sherry Turner (Carol), Leroy Chavis (Laura), and Rene Chavis (Ricky); her sister, Brinda Browder; grandchildren, Mandy (Marc) Brad, Melody, Robin, Terri (Robert), Mickey, Kenzie (Dalton), Bryan (Michelle), and Felicia (Matthew); as well as 16 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
A visitation for Corene will be held Wednesday, June 11, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 9:45 AM at West Side Holiness Church, 527 Augusta Street, West Columbia, SC 29169, followed by a funeral service at 10:00 AM.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Dean Spradley, Brad Chavis, Brayton Chavis, Mickey Turner, Bryan Chavis, and Taylor Chavis. Honorary pallbearers are Donnie Williams and Matthew Hite.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in her memory to West Side Holiness Church, 527 Augusta Street, West Columbia, SC 29169.
