Dave grew up in Nonesuch Kentucky, and he carried those roots with him throughout his life. He also carried something rarer still: enduring loyalty. He kept close friendships for more than 50 years with his childhood friends, Paul Currens, Joey and Michael Lathrem—bonds sustained by steadiness, shared history, and the kind of devotion that does not fade with time.
A hard-working man who led by example, Dave was the Co-Owner and Principal of Cable and Connections. He built more than a business; he helped shape a place where people could rely on one another, and where commitment and care mattered. To those who worked alongside him, his presence was both motivating and reassuring—an everyday kind of inspiration grounded in consistency, compassion, and pride in doing things well.
Dave was predeceased by his wife, Kathryn Rutherford Utterback; his Mother, Betty Jane Frederick; his Father, John D. Utterback; and his Step Father, Bill Rogers. He is survived by his Daughter, Kassandra Forquer (Cody Deering); his Sons, Tharron Forquer (Caitlin) and Brandon Forquer; and his 4 Grandchildren, Rayden and Nevaeh Deering, Cammie Jacobson, and Scotland Forquer. He is also survived by his Brother, Barry; his Sisters, Bobbie and Cindy; his Soul Brother, Darren Krych; his Soul Daughter, Mandy Freeman; and his extended work family at Cable and Connections.
An outdoorsman at heart, Dave loved to camp, fish, and spend time outside—especially when it meant time with his grandkids. There was an adventurous spirit in the way he embraced the open air and simple pleasures, and a kind-hearted warmth in how he made those moments about togetherness.
Dave's compassion extended beyond his family and work. He was heavily involved in Teknowledge Worldwide (TKW), a 501C3 non profit technology based organization. His devotion to that mission reflected a belief in showing up, pitching in, and helping others move forward—loudly, faithfully, and with purpose.
Dave never met a stranger and lit up any room. If there wasn’t a party going on, he became the party—bringing humor, energy, and a welcoming spirit that made people feel instantly included. That gift for connection, paired with a loyal heart, is part of what will be remembered most.
The family would like to thank all of the customers and extended family of Cable and Connections.
